Easter – God’s invitation to live again

Mark 16:1-7 NLT Saturday evening, when the Sabbath ended, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome went out and purchased burial spices so they could anoint Jesus’ body. Very early on Sunday morning, just at sunrise, they went to the tomb. On the way, they were asking each other, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” But as they arrived, they looked up and saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled aside. When they entered the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a white robe sitting on the right side. The women were shocked, but the angel said, “Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body. Now go and tell his disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you before he died.”

The women who showed up were not expecting resurrection. They came to anoint the body of Jesus.

Christ is risen.

COVID19 has taken over our world and that’s all we see in the news…and it’s bad news.

How do we start turning this around? Those of us that know Jesus.

How do we restore hope with the message of Christ’s resurrection?

I declare to you that no matter how bad it looks, Joy comes in the morning.  Light is at the end of the tunnel.

Ezekiel 37: 1-4

The hand of the Lord came upon me and brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord , and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones. Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and behold, there  were very many in the open valley; and indeed they  were very dry. And He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” So I answered, “O Lord God , You know.” Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘ O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord !

Hopelessness makes one act irrationally.  It brings a feeling of helplessness.

But this is the good news With Jesus, there is hope for the world. The hope we have is Jesus.

He bore our sins, shame and sorrow on the cross and God raised in on the 3rd day. The same God who raised Jesus from the grave is able to deliver us from COVID19.

In the valley of dry bones…Goz was speaking hope. Making us know that no matter how hopeless a case seems,  God can change it.

Whatever you are going through does not define God. He is bigger than our circumstances and situations.  He is bigger than COVID19.

Romans 6:5 says For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in  the  likeness of His resurrection

This scripture shows that even death is not the final word as dreadful as death sounds.

God promises to do for all of creation what He did for Jesus.

Romans 8:21  says

because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

The God who brings life to dry bones, the God that has promised to make all thinhs new is with you this morning.

God has ordered the world so that He does whatever He wants through human beings

Phil 2:13 says For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

God is calling us to speak that hope to our neighbors,  our friends,  our neighborhoods,  our workplaces that there is hope and God will turn it around. We know that because He lives,  we can face tomorrow.

We speak hope and life to our world. To the Doctors and Nurses in the front line. We declare that they are shielded and protected by the blood of Jesus. To everyone who has lost loved ones that the God of all comfort will comfort you. To every nation and its citizens where COVID19 is wrecking havoc that there’s strength to fight and win. We speak hope and life to the leaders, our president and those surrounding him, our governor that God will grant wisdom to steer the nation out of this.

We speak hope and life to Regents Assembly that we will understand the times and seasons like the sons of Issachar…that we know the mind of God and use this time to seek Him.

We speak hope and life to the church…we are the salt of the world,  the light and God Himself will sustain us.

This is the time to know that God is calling us higher…it’s not the time to fold our hands.

When you go out, know that God’s got you. No evil will befall you, no plague will come near your dwelling and that we will come out victorious at the end of the tunnel of COVID19.
